Factory resetting the V2 scanner

Recently I migrated from ESP-IDF v4 to v5 and that changed the inner workings of the scanner.

Follow this guide if you are having scanner issues.


1. Download and unpack latest GUI version to a clean folder.

2. Go to Tools folder, open a command line interface (CMD.exe) and wipe scanner with this command:

esptool --chip esp32 erase_flash




3. Start latest GUI, try connecting to scanner: COM-port connect is ok but version info and status is not received.




4. Go to Tools / Update, ignore GUI version is latest message.

Force latest scanner firmware update? Yes.
Is this V2 scanner? Yes.
ESP32 update starts.


5. Disconnect from scanner, then re-connect: version info and status is received.

You are all up to date!

If ESP32 update does not start then do the following:
- before esptool tries to connect: press both scanner buttons
- release reset button first
- release boot button last
- ESP32 flash update begins

Reason behind this odd behavior: USB port/cable defects.
